The workers' assembly of Nueva Pescanova unanimously approved Saturday the suspension of the indefinite strike, which was due to begin on Tues., April 4.

Workers agreed to restart negotiations on the collective agreement, but stipulated that the strike would resume should no agreement be reached on working conditions and wages, reports La Voz de Galicia.

Union representatives expressed optimism about the negotiations, although predicted that the "process will be long."

Negotiations will resume on March 29 and will continue through April 1.
