UK consumers are already moving away from the seafood aisle as prices and the general cost of living in the United Kingdom rises faster than it has done for more than 40 years.

Food cost inflation in the UK has now reached 9.1 percent, driven by a complex global set of circumstances pushing up costs in all directions and putting a huge squeeze on consumer spending - including on seafood.

According to Simon Smith, CEO of Young's Seafood, the UK's largest seafood processor, the current inflationary climate will inevitably force shoppers to drop out of seafood, and the signs are already there.
