Norway's Fisheries Minister Per Sandberg will travel to Japan in late June -- the first seafood delegation to the country in more than 30 years, according to the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC).

Japan is a "very important" seafood market, not only for salmon and trout but also mackerel and king crab, Gunvar Lenhard Wie, who works for the NSC in Japan, said.

More than 30 years have passed since the NSC kicked off 'Project Japan,' introducing Norwegian salmon to the market.
