The coranavirus pandemic has impacted every corner of the UK’s -- and the world’s -- economies, largely in a negative way, but the hospitality and foodservice sectors have been hit particularly hard during the government's lockdown measures.

On March 20 in the UK, restaurants, pubs, cafes were all forced to close their doors and shut up shop for the foreseeable future. Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s lockdown began in earnest on the following Monday, March 23.

While a lot of sectors have been able to move their core business to an online model, this is not so easy for full-service restaurants or pubs, which are an inherently social industry reliant on customers paying them a visit.
