Aquaculture feed producer Biomar is expanding its use of microalgae as part of its raw material portfolio, with its massive Denmark facility poised to include the ingredient in half of its production.

Biomar's operation in Brande, Denmark, will include algae in half of its high-performance flagship salmon, kingfish and trout diets, Baltics Managing Director Anders Brandt-Clausen said, a step toward the group's commitment to making 50 percent of its feed circular and restorative by 2030.

The feed giant has been investing heavily in research and development on algae inclusion since 2013.
