The world's leading suppliers of land-based salmon farming equipment are being peppered with inquiries from prospective buyers, but as of yet experience and capital are holding the sector back.

"Not a week goes by where we don't get a request from Norway or other countries for pricing to construct a land-based project," Marius Haegh, sales director at Kruger Kaldnes, told IntraFish.

Land-based production was discussed at a conference Tuesday in Oslo, Norway sponsored by research group Sintef.

Kruger is one of three major suppliers of recirculating aquaculture systems for farmed salmon, which also include Billund Aquaculture and AKVA Group.
