Norwegian land-based salmon farmer Andfjord Salmon completed construction of the first pool at its Kvalnes facility during the second quarter of 2021, and is about to start filling it with water.

The group also secured NOK 50 million (€4.9 million/$5.8 million) in funding from some of its largest shareholders for the test period of the first pool and its flow-through technology, in preparation for smolt release next year.

In addition to the first pool and groundwork for the next six pools at Kvalnes -- representing a total production volume of 12,600 metric tons head on gutted (HOG) -- Andfjord Salmon unveiled an expansion plan and signed a land purchase agreement enabling 50 percent volume growth.
