Skretting, the Norway-based aquaculture feed giant, said on Thursday it has appointed Mads Martinsen as the new general manager of its Norway operations.

Martinsen has been promoted from director of product development and sustainability at Skretting Norway, a role that he has held for the past seven years.

He replaces Havard Walde, who became Skretting's managing director for salmon operations in Australia, Chile, North America and Norway on May 1.

Martinsen joined Skretting, part of the Netherlands-based animal nutrition group Nutreco, in 2011 as a newly graduated fisheries candidate from the University of Tromso. He became head of Skretting's research station at Lerang, southern Norway, before taking on responsibility for grower feeds in Norway in 2016.

“I’ve practically grown up on the edge of a fish pen, and I’m filled with both joy and a sense of awe at being given the opportunity to help drive the development of the feed side in Norwegian aquaculture," Martinsen said in a statement.
