Norwegian feed group Bio3 and Swedish circular industrial group Wa3rm have joined forces to develop an aquaculture feed facility in western Norway.
The production plant at industrial group NorSea’s facility in Averoy, will convert side streams from agricultural and forestry industries into mushroom-based proteins for the aquaculture sector, the companies announced in a press release.
Construction will commence during the third quarter of 2025, with Bio3 operating the facility.
The Norwegian government stipulated last year that all aquaculture feed should come from sustainable sources by 2034 and the proportion of Norwegian-produced raw materials must increase from the current 8 percent to 25 percent by 2034.
