BioMar and Skretting have welcomed the “green” rating awarded to Peru’s industrial anchoveta fishery, saying the endorsement by the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s influential Seafood Watch program will support an important supplier of marine ingredients to the global aquaculture sector.
The award, reported by IntraFish on Friday, is a huge boon both for the Peruvian fishing sector and the global aquaculture industry, which has at times been criticized by opponents for its reliance on marine ingredients. Peruvian anchovy is a key raw material for major aquaculture feed suppliers.
