Alaska pollock producers have ended the fishing year strong, despite a 1.1 million metric-ton total allowable catch (TAC) for the Eastern Bering Sea Alaska pollock fishery in 2022, a 19 percent reduction from last year's quota.

Rasmus Sorensen, executive vice president of global sales at pollock fishing giant American Seafoods, told a gathering of top executives in the whitefish industry at this year's Groundfish Forum in Seattle in October that this year was a "positive turn" for the Alaska pollock industry, after pandemic-related challenges impacted the fleet's operations over the past two years.
