Plant-based seafood company Ocean Hugger is planning to relaunch after pausing operations last year amid a collapse in foodservice business linked to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As it seeks to bounce back into business the company has unveiled the establishment of Ocean Hugger, Inc., a joint venture with leading Thailand-based food manufacturer, Nove Foods Limited, a division of NR Instant Produce Public Company Limited (NRF).

US-based Ocean Hugger Foods was founded in 2016. By early 2020, the business was selling Ahimi, a tomato-based alternative to raw tuna, and Unami, an eggplant-based alternative to unagi eel, to foodservice operators across the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and United Kingdom before the pandemic derailed its business.
