Vietnam is becoming increasingly important to the global seafood processing industry, said Truong Dinh Hoe, general secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), reports Vietnam Net Bridge.

Domestic businesses have increased imports of raw materials for processing for export, he said.

Vietnam spent nearly $800 million (€734.8 million) on raw material imports, mainly shrimp, tuna, cuttlefish, for processing and re-exporting, he said, stressing this shows that the country plays increasingly vital role in the global seafood supply chain.
