Maine-based live lobster wholesaler Maine Coast plans to increase its capacity at its new Boston Fish Pier facility.

The 5,000-square-foot facility currently has a tank system that holds 8,000 pounds of lobster and a shower system for 10,000 pounds of lobster.

“We have an adjacent room where we will install a shower system to bring the total capacity up to 30,000 pounds of lobster,” Facility Manager Peter Kendall told IntraFish. “We plan to do this in the coming months.”

Some of the lobster comes down from the 16,000-square-foot main facility in York, Maine, which was established in 2011 and holds 150,000 pounds of live lobster.
