Tosakatsuo Suisan currently only sells to the Japanese market, but has a new factory area to be fitted out to HACCP standards for future export business.

The Yaizu-based skipjack processor is teaming up with local pole and line fishermen to apply for Marine Stewardship Council eco-label certification to create a new market for its product.

‘This [the new factory] is for the new business that we hope the MSC certification will bring us,’ says Hiroyuki Myojin, company president.

The plan is to export skipjack and albacore tuna to Europe.
