Icelandic fishing giant Samherji is buying a former meals plant from Icelandic Seachill in Grimsby, Gustaf Baldvinsson, CEO at the group's UK subsidiary Seagold, told IntraFish.

Icelandic Seachill also confirmed it has accepted an offer from Seagold to purchase the land and buildings previously known as Icelandic Seachill Meals Site.

"Over the past three years Icelandic Seachill has implemented its strategic plan to focus operations with strategic partners and suppliers," Seachill said in a statement, sent to IntraFish.

"Key to this has been the identification of core activities consistent with fish expertise and to strategically exit non-core activities."
