A PLANT in southeast Alaska, US, has voluntarily suspended all operations after a state official warned the company they did not have the necessary permit, reports John Fiorillo, intrafish.com.

Pelican Seafood was closed for two years before the plant passed to current owner Ed Bahrt in 2006. However, all production at the plant has again been halted after officials from the Alaskan Department of Revenue discovered the plant was operating without the necessary licence.

‘We placed a call to the facility and asked what was going on and spoke with the owner,’ says Tim Cottongim, manager of the Department of Revenue’s fish tax and licence division.
