The quality of processed pangasius products from Vietnam may suffer due to an obsession with price, a major seafood company is warning. Belgium-based Hottlet Frozen Foods believes excellent growth in the pangasius market risks stalling as price wars threaten to undermine product quality, reports Intrafish.com.
‘The biggest threat [to pangasius] is an over focus on price,’ says Filip Van der Vennet, sales and office manager at Hottlet Frozen Foods, who spoke at the Value Added Seafood conference in London. ‘Huge price competition tends to lead to an overuse of additives and glazing.
