The National Fishing Corporation of Namibia’s (Fishcor) plans to construct a new onshore horse mackerel plant in the country are on track, according to the company’s CEO.

The company acquired the Etale Fishing Property at Walvis Bay in December 2016 at a cost of NAD 160 million (€10.9 million/$12.1 million), and is now renovating the old building for the project, reports The Namibian.

“We needed the services of an expert to remove the asbestos which has been done successfully,” said Mike Nghipunya, CEO of Fishcor.

“Most
