Urk-based Dutch salmon smoker Rodé Vis laid the foundations to a new processing factory in early April this year, the company confirmed to IntraFish.
The new production facility, which is the fifth for the company, will be focused on the "fully automated" production of smoked salmon.
It is being built on 17,000 square meters of land, which Rode Vis bought in the industrial zone Zwolsehoek from the municipality of Urk at the end of 2015.
The factory will span across 11,000 square meters, "leaving room for future expansion," Rode Vis said in a statement.
