The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent a letter last month warning Kirby Marsden, owner of Quality Fisheries, doing business as The Niota Fish Market.
The FDA inspected Illinois-based seafood processing facility in January and "during that inspection, we found that you had serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation.
"Accordingly, your buffalo fish are adulterated in that they have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby they may have been rendered injurious to health," said the letter.
