The seafood industry's major processing equipment suppliers are stymied by global travel bans, lockdowns and other restrictions, making critical repairs and updates more complex than ever.

Iceland-based Marel, one of the largest equipment suppliers, ordinarily has service teams in 30 different countries, allowing them to easily send technicians to plants for repairs and upgrades.

However, like so many companies around the world, the group has shifted to online services and remote assistance.

Iceland-based Valka is still servicing customers on-site within Iceland and Norway, Director of Sales and Marketing Jon Birgir Gunnarsson told IntraFish.
