Scallop and whitefish harvesting and processing company Blue Harvest Fisheries reopened Monday after it was forced to shut down last week when three workers at its New Bedford, Massachusetts, processing plant tested positive for COVID-19.

The company, which was issued a cease-and-desist order last week by the Massachusetts city where it operates, said it hired a third-party professional cleaner to do a thorough disinfecting of the facility prior to the letter.

"After being notified of the positive diagnoses, Blue Harvest officials notified the Board of Health immediately, and began to implement its own response procedures before receiving any further notice from the city," the company said Monday.
