Demand continues to stay strong for lobster at home and abroad, and it's keeping lobster prices high.
Several industry executives told IntraFish the upcoming holiday season will spur demand even more -- particularly in Europe. And Chinese consumers' seemingly insatiable demand for the crustacean hasn't waned.
John Jordan, founding member and the president of Calendar Islands Maine Lobster Company, said "demand is greater in Europe than it has been and remains strong in Asia."
US lobster exports grew 13 percent and 17 percent in volume and value, respectively, through August compared to the same period in 2015, according to the latest figures from the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).
