During the 52-week period ending Jan. 31, 2015, tilapia accounted for nearly a quarter of finfish category sales in US supermarkets. Finfish is the largest category within the fresh seafood department.

At $626 per store per week, tilapia was the second highest-selling finfish variety, behind salmon (which sold $978 per store per week). Average weekly tilapia sales per store/per week fell 4% compared to the previous year. (Click here to see previous year’s report.)
