In one way or another, they have all worked with and/or been impacted by Alistair Ramus.
M&J Seafood and Ocean Trawlers because they employed Ramus and suffered the consequences; Icelandic Group because they bought fish from Ramus through U.K.-based arm Seachill; and Wegmans because Ramus allegedly used their name as part of the scam he and others ran on Ocean Trawlers.
Wegmans, I might add, was not aware of this at the time.
However, Whole Foods is now doing business with Ramus, who is back in the industry again after being sent to prison for three years and three months in March 2009 for theft and false accounting, while working for M&J Seafood.
