The European Free Trade Agreement Surveillance Authority (EFTASA), which monitors adherence to European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) rules, said Wednesday the Norwegian government’s law restricting single ownership of salmon and trout farming concessions in the country to 25 percent was “in breach of the fundamental EEA (European Economic Area) right of establishment.”

The EEA consists of the 27 member states of the European Union (EU) and three EFTA states, which include Norway, as well as Liechtenstein and Iceland. The EEA agreement enables EFTA states to participate fully in the European single market.
