The high mineral content in the Gulf of St Lawrence fishery in Canada gives the shrimp the highest omega-3 content of any coldwater shrimp currently on the market, the company claimed.
One 80-gram portion of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified product contributes 66 percent of the recommended daily intake of omega-3.
Available across the United Kingdom, the product retails at £3.49 (€3.74/$5.22) for a 350-gram bag.
Young’s new Christmas advertising campaign will support the launch.
“Our 'Best Ever Prawns' are rich in omega-3 and are also sourced from a sustainable fishery, certified by the MSC,” said Marketing Director Yvonne Adam.
