The sardines are being caught by Stefan Glinski, whose company, Fresh & Freeze, was credited with almost single-handedly reviving interest in the Cornish sardine market.

Glinski catches the fish using traditional ring and drift net techniques from Cornish inshore waters before being landed fresh within two hours of catch, headed, gutted and frozen within 12 hours.

“Cornish sardines highlight the point that delicious, top quality species are readily available from our own waters, caught by smaller producers using traditional methods and a responsible approach,” said Young’s Deputy CEO Mike Parker.
