The UK government is funneling more than £1 million ($1.6 million/€1.4 million) into Young's Seafood's two sites in Grimsby to secure 250 jobs and possibly create up to 200 more, according to a local paper.

The government program, the Regional Growth Fund, will give the struggling frozen foods producer up to £1.346 million ($2.1 million/€1.88 million), according to the Grimsby Telegraph.

Young’s lost its smoked and fresh salmon contract with UK retailer Sainsbury's to Norwegian giant Marine Harvest recently and proposed closing its Fraserburgh and Spey Valley sites in or after November, which would result in the loss of more than 900 jobs.
