In December, the ”whole world” will be meeting in Hong Kong for a new round of negotiations on freer global trade; in the seafood industry there are fears the quarrel between rich and poor countries over support for agriculture in rich countries could spell disaster for freer global trading of seafood.
In Norway, the most important organization for the seafood companies’ interests, Norwegian Seafood Federation (FHL), is worried WTO negotiations could run aground due to the dispute.
FHL referred to the fact the two-year old Doha round of WTO talks had tremendous problems arriving at a solution.
