A coalition of companies supplying Russian pollock to international markets is defending a determination this week by an international certification body that the Russia Sea of Okhotsk fishery meets Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standards and should be granted use of the MSC eco-label.

"The Russian pollock fisheries management system has been scrutinized in great detail and as much as any other MSC fishery in the past," said the the Russian Pollock Sustainability Alliance Companies (RPSAC), which is made up of leading brands, processors and buyers of fish from across the world, including Delmar, FRoSTA, Gorton’s, High Liner Foods, Iglo Foods Group, Pickenpack, Royal Greenland and Young’s Seafood Ltd.
