The auctions at Hanstholm, Hirtshals, Strandby and Grenaa -- all in the north of Jutland -- received certification to sell MSC-certified at the end of last year, and are selling 100 metric tons of Norwegian and German saithe a week.
“This will have an influence on fish prices,” chief auctioneer Jes Holm Sorensen told IntraFish.
Although prices for MSC-labeled fish are not yet higher than non-labeled fish, but he expects this to change as more buyers get certified and more of the general public become aware of the label.
