After first fighting to prevent pangasius from being called catfish, U.S. growers have managed to include in legislation pending in Congress a provision requiring pangasius to be called catfish.

“Pangasius is not domestic channel catfish and should not be treated as such,” Gavin Gibbons of NFI told IntraFish on Tuesday, adding a 2002 law prevents pangasius from being marketed as catfish.
