Abramczyk, a processor based in Bydgoszcz, is ramping up its imports of wild salmon, shrimp, mussels and other more expensive seafood items, said Wojciech Bondara, the company’s executive director.
“I started with the company seven years ago,” he told IntraFish. “Back then, we imported maybe one container of shrimp in a year.”
Now, the company imports two to four containers of shrimp -- mainly black tiger -- every month. “That’s between 50 metric tons to 100 metric tons,” he said.
This rapid rate of expansion can also be seen in the company’s wild salmon imports.
