Farmed salmon prices in North America enjoyed a small yet appreciated bump this year when Copper River wild salmon hit the market.
Farmed salmon prices rose $0.10 (€0.08) per pound at the season opener in mid-May due to the introduction of higher priced wild salmon onto the market, Nick Dicarlo, sales manager for Mainstream Canada, told IntraFish.
Last year, farmed salmon prices received no such boost from wild salmon prices, but this year’s increase -- which was only temporary -- is a small consolation given the current market situation, Dicarlo said.
