Worm, of Dalhousie University in Canada, and Hilborn, of the University of Washington in Seattle, put aside their very public differences after Worm published a study last year saying the world’s oceans would be out of fish by 2048 unless action was taken to stop overfishing.

The two came out with a new study last week in Science that looked at the world’s fish stocks. It found while overfishing is occurring in the majority of fisheries, steps taken to curb overfishing are beginning to succeed in five of the 10 large marine ecosystems they examined.
