A call to Jones to confirm the move was not immediately returned, but a voicemail message at the company identified him as the director of seafood for HEB.
Jones, 37, was named Whole Foods’ national seafood buyer in August 2003, moving up from his post as the company’s regional seafood buying coordinator in the Southwest. Whole Foods posted sales of $3.8 billion (€3.1 billion) last year.
Jones replaces Bill Bonzheim, 43, who left HEB in July to work for Seattle based Gold River Foods, a seafood supplier.
