Woodland, Wash.-based Hartley's, which has primarily focused on frozen halibut products, extended the branded Hartley's Gourmet line with five new products, including two halibut items, two tilapia items and wild U.S.-sourced shrimp.

The new beer-boiled shrimp product is co-branded with shrimp trade group Certified Wild American Shrimp Inc. (WASI) and the Alaskan Brewing Co., part of an effort by Hartley's to further cultivate its image as a purveyor of primarily domestic products, CEO Phil Schmidt told IntraFish.

"We're careful not to paint ourselves into a corner, but we believe if we're going to use these great partners and the customers don't know it, we're not [benefiting]," Schmidt said.
