Industry watchers are expecting Norwegian salmon farmer Grieg Seafood to begin the sales process for its operations in the Shetlands any time, and while two strong candidates have been named, several are reportedly eyeing the division.

The business, which operates under Grieg Seafood Hjaltland, has been struggling for some time. Last year, it battled algae, salmon lice, weak growth and high mortality rates, on top of a strong British sterling and weak Norwegian krone, which undermined Scottish salmon's competitive edge considerably.
