Whitefish supplier Faroe Seafood is expanding into smoked products through its newly acquired factory, its CEO Simon Jacobsen said.
"There's an opportunity in the market for smoked whitefish [...] and the main idea is to make our own smoked products to add those to our product range, especially for smoked haddock and saithe (also known as coley), and maybe cod," Jacobsen told IntraFish.
The factory, which was previously owned by Maru Seafood, started production in January. It initially churned out mainly fresh and frozen fillets and portions and started doing smoked products in early March.
