Genetically engineered salmon could be in American supermarkets in two years.
That is, if the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approves AquaBounty Technologies product after the company applied for permission 18 years ago.
Earlier this year, the FDA stated genetically modified salmon doesn’t pose any threat to the environment and is “as safe as food from conventional Atlantic salmon.”
Activists groups said Monday they believe FDA approval could be coming in the next few weeks and they have begun a new wave of protests aimed at derailing success of the fish in the market.
