Shrimp buyers in the United States say they’re sourcing less and less product from Thailand with news of a potential downgrade of the country’s Trafficking In Persons (TIP) Report grade and possible trade sanctions.
US Secretary of State John Kerry is scheduled to announce the results of this year’s TIP Report Friday morning, and whether or not Thailand will fall lower on the United States' tiering system of human trafficking violators. A downgrade to "Tier 3" would put Thailand in the same box as countries such as North Korea and Iraq.
