One of Norway’s biggest newspapers, Aftenposten, recently featured an extraordinary photo on its front page. The photo showed a polar bear clinging to a tiny ice floe, which appeared to be floating around in the midst of the ocean with not another ice floe or land in sight.
The caption concerned the United Nation climate panel’s change of opinion about the North Pole becoming ice-free around 2080. After this year’s summer, research scientists now fear 2040 could be closer to the truth.
