UK supermarket chain Asda is "looking into" the matter of high sea lice numbers at salmon farms of one of its suppliers, in response to a press release sent out by the Salmon & Trout Association of Scotland (S&TA) on Dec. 12.
"We take our responsibility on sourcing seriously and we are looking into this," an Asda representative told IntraFish.
In a call for a boycott against Scottish salmon supplier Wester Ross, the S&TA press release cited sea lice data from the Scottish Salmon Producers' Organization (SSPO), which is publicly available here.
