A few months back in this column, I discussed the potential impact of U.K. retailer Tesco’s entry into the United States, via its Fresh & Easy units.
The small-format retailer, which will sell sushi, pre-packed fish fillets, ready-meals and sandwiches using shrimp, salmon and tuna among its grocery offerings, began its entry in Nevada, California and Arizona, and will soon open its 62nd store.
Though there were some rumblings the format wasn’t working well, those were recently dismissed by Tesco's U.S. operations chief.
