Salmon weighing more than six kilograms were hardest hit, while three- to four-kilo fish were attracting the best prices, at around NOK 25 (€3.15/$4.34).
“We are down NOK 1 since last week, but we think the prices are acceptable in relation to the big volumes being sent out,” said Johan Holmefjord at Alsakerfjordbruk, near Bergen, Norway.
Last week, record volumes were shipped from Norway. Holmefjord said he would not be surprised if this week’s volumes are just as big.
“If this kind of volumes continue to be sent out there will less fish in the cages,” he said.
