In 2013, Vietnam’s vannamei shrimp exports hit $1.58 billion (€1.1 billion), up 113 percent year on year and making up 50.7 percent of the country’s total shrimp exports.

Over the year vannamei also surpassed black tiger shrimp sales of $1.33 billion (€958.4 million), which were up only 6.3 percent and occupied 42.7 percent of total shrimp sales from the country.

In the first month of 2014, this trend was continued, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

In January 2014, total shrimp exports from Vietnam reached $258.6
