Vietnam expects better pangasius prices in late 2012

The current lack of raw material for pangasius should be contributing to a rise in prices in late 2012, industry players told IntraFish.

“Farmers are not producing pangasius now that current prices are so low, so there is going to be a shortage of raw material in the late part of 2012,” said Hung Ca sales manager Van Duong. Hung Ca exported $87 million worth of pangasius in 2011.

As it is usually the peak season for Vietnamese exporters, selling price for pangasius in the last quarter is likely to recover, said Viet Capital Securities research analyst Vu Thi Tra Ly.
