Nearly 80 people squeezed into the James Beard House in New York City on Wednesday for the first-ever Great Alaska Seafood Celebration hosted by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI).
IntraFish spoke to Tyson Fick, ASMI communications director, and the two Alaskan chefs who created the menu: Laura Cole of 229 Parks Restaurant & Tavern at the Denali National Park and Preserve, and Beau Schooler of The Rookery Café, Juneau.
Schooler is a 2015 James Beard Foundation Award semifinalist.
"The dinner let us celebrate some of the unsung heroes of" Alaskan seafood, said Cole.
